Tidbit of info: I'm probably the most laziest and unethical security guard in the world. I'm laid back, don't give two shits about work I'm PAID to do and especially like getting paid to listen to my iPod, watch DVDs, and free write.
Why that was important: While I was making a perimeter patrol (outside) I came across the corner of 8th and Grand Downtown. The YWCA is right across the street and the helpless homeless women that live there usually come over to my work's property and smoke or relax or whatever they want as long as it's not disturbing anybody (and yes, sometimes they do disturbing things). As I walk by, a young, black, homeless girl asked if I was security. I said, "Yes, do you need something?" "I need help," she replied. I knew right away that she was as rudely as possible asking for either money, or a place to go or anything of that sort. I don't generally HATE the homeless. I might hate ON them but what can you expect from a Neo-narcissistic nihilist. She explained her current situation to me. I really didn't want to listen, but I'm not an aggressively mean person. I harbor hate, I don't unleash it. She said hotel after hotel kicked her out and she only wanted to take a shower. She was just passing through. If I were a security guard for a hotel, I would have let her in (see above section) but I'm not. I'm security for a business. It gives me very little leeway.
She had too much pride to go to a shelter. The inside me wanted to say, "Fuck your pride. It obviously hasn't helped you yet. Get over it and fix yourself." but I can't just be that mean for no real reason. She asked if I carried a gun so she could kill herself. She'd rather be dead than homeless. I didn't really have any answers for her. I've never been homeless. My logic and sensibility screams to snatch up ANY thing that someone could provide. The greed, envy and unwillingness to let go of American comforts would whisper steal what you need to get by. I can't tell her what to do but I also couldn't help her.
I went back to work as more homeless came out to "relax". I didn't even really say goodbye. An ending to that conversation is more salt in the wound than anything. They know you mean well. I go back in for my lunch and I warm up some "healthy ramen". I'm not even hungry any more. I could just as easily give this to that girl and THAT would be my contribution.
Really?... Let's say she died tomorrow. The last thought of her obviously unimportant life in this world would be "The world fucked me, hard. Oh! All except for that ramen. I didn't get to eat for a week but the ramen made it all better."
I cringed at this. I mean, I have really huge fucking dreams of evil and good. Selfishness and giving. Ruin and prosperity. I'm a Pisces/Scorpio/Taurus. Then I told myself, if you win the lottery you damn well better build something useful. I'm no economics expert or homeless expert or accountant, but I do know that it cannot take anything more than human compassion to aid the homeless in getting clean and fed and probably even shelter. You don't have to cave and baby them. They ARE grown adults (most of them) and they should be taking care of themselves. But for you to not even want to see them live, is you only wanting to see them die.
And that's fine. The Gothic/industrial/metal/emo/pop/hip-hop/rap/techno -CORE people of the world do NOT give a spit about anything outside of their precious circle jerk off worlds unless it's about a celebrity (and that's a rant for another day). The normal American has been conditioned to absorb freedom into their minds and hearts and every pore of their body to the point that they are free of important traits: care, compassion, understanding and empathy. A brotherhood of your own kind. Plus, America keeps the poor depressed and angry which only furthers the absence of these traits.
So who's left to help the problem? The rich... I should just lobotomize myself right now for thinking for a SECOND that the rich would part ways with their god. My number one person that I love to hate on when it comes to money is that scheming bitch Oprah Winfrey. You might say, "WHAAA......!!?? She gives and she gives and she talks about important topics and brings about awareness." You might see all of her deeds as important and generous but let me ask you this: How can a woman spend one day talking about AIDS epidemics in Africa then the next day have a gay ole time with a celebrity then the NEXT day hand out luxurious expensive gifts and then what? Oh yeah, cycle back to a sob story. She does this to reach into the cold selfish hearts of Americans and comfort them. How? Every single American wants to lick the asshole of SOME celebrity. She caters to that. Every single American wants to be pampered. She does that too. And every single American knows that it is WRONG of them as a human to be engulfed in that way of life so they watch a sob story about shitty countries with real fucking problems and go, "Whew! I can still 'feel'!"
If Oprah REALLY cared about the garbage of the world, she would take a FOURTH of her income and give the rest to charity or better yet! actually put the money to use. If you can give X amount of dollars with mighty might zeros after it then you can apply that money directly to a good cause. Or start your own damn cause. But no, you still want the FUCKING tax break. I could just bash the brains in of the rich. No one in this WORLD deserves the amounts of money they have. When you die, you don't get the money. You will either get HELL or ABSOLUTELY NOTHING cause you sure as fuck will not go to any heaven. Making a good investment is NOT work. Don't kid yourself. Stocks and ideas aren't work. MANUAL LABOR is work. Afraid you might get shot protecting stupid rich fucks and careless poor fucks is WORK. Being a volunteer is the most correct thing I could THINK of to be called work. You are building and servicing a nation. A talk show isn't work! Anyone can do it and with YouTube almost everyone will try. Your "job" is worthless. The CEO's of major corporations don't do jack shit anymore. Someone did put lots of time into the IBMs and Geicos and McDonalds. Any current CEO of an established company gets paid MILLIONS a year to do nothing but shit. Your ability to say "Yes that sounds good" or "I don't think we should" doesn't garner you anything more than the average person. And most of the time, someone below them makes those decisions. Do you think the idiots behind Google had to work hard? No! People make websites everyday. They based their website around a function that people NEED to use on the web - SEARCHING. Dear God, please make me that smart... right. Anymore, earning WEALTH is only luck. People who go to the office and earn enough money to live the "normal American happy ending life" still don't end up earning much... and they lose time with their kids or time for fun things or their marriages get strained.
I'm in over my head.
All in all people, America needs change. In the 17th century, America was founded on the decision to be free from religion. We decided that no one should control us through a God/faith. The time has come to free ourselves from oppression of wealth. There are limitations on EVERYTHING in this nation. An drinking limit. A speed limit. EVERYTHING. Why not limit the amount of money you can earn? Put back into America that which you are bleeding dry from people who do not deserve that treatment. Kill the greed inside you, for in the end it will consume you and your hollow shell of a body will lie in a fancy tomb only to be PISSED on by the poor people you scoffed at.
